Jane Robinson on BBC Breakfast for IntelliAM speaking about AI and Productivity in Manufacturing

Last week, we had the incredible opportunity to appear on BBC Breakfast in response to the Spring Statement. As the UK digested the Chancellor’s announcements, the BBC team visited Sheffield to capture local business perspectives, including ours.

It was a great chance for our VP for Business Development, Jane Robinson, to join in the important conversation and speak specifically about the role of AI in boosting productivity in manufacturing.

As industry continues to navigate the array of economic challenges, adopting machine learning (ML) and AI-driven solutions can help manufacturers optimise operations, cut costs, and unlock greater productivity.

We highlighted our work with major food and drink manufacturers, where machine learning and AI are transforming asset management – unlocking the valuable insights that are ‘locked’ inside the plant and machinery of virtually every factory in the country.

While we didn’t get the chance to explore this in depth on BBC Breakfast, it’s important to add that traditionally, asset management has relied heavily on manual monitoring, scheduled maintenance, and reactive problem-solving.

However, through our ML and AI-driven platform, companies can predict failures before they happen, optimise performance and supply chains, and reduce waste and operational costs.

The result is the ability to make data-driven decisions with greater confidence, leading to improved overall productivity – critical in today’s competitive and challenging business environment.

Changing the Way Man and Machine Interact

One of the most exciting aspects of our work is evolving the relationship between man and machine. AI is not here to replace human expertise, it serves as an enabler, augmenting decision-making and freeing up skilled professionals to focus on more strategic tasks. By integrating AI into their workflows, manufacturers can enhance productivity, improve accuracy and quality, and ultimately drive better outcomes.

We’re big believers that humans are vital to the success of AI. That’s why our key differentiator is our deep domain expertise, built over decades of working on production lines worldwide.

This – combined with a talented team of data engineers who can turn billions of untapped data points on a line into a laser-accurate, early warning and governing system – prevents costly machine downtime, boosts throughput efficiency, reduces waste streams, increases productivity, optimises energy usage, and decreases operating costs.

We’re proud to be revolutionising the way man and machine interact – powering a new industrial revolution in the UK which turns the art of manufacturing into a science.

AI Is a Present-Day Solution

The conversation we took part in on BBC Breakfast reinforced a crucial point – AI is no longer a futuristic concept, it’s a present-day solution for manufacturers. And the answer to increased productivity lies within their existing assets.

We were delighted to contribute to this important discussion and look forward to continuing to help businesses unlock the true potential of their asset data.

If you missed our appearance and would like to learn more about how AI can support your organisation, get in touch – we’d love to continue the conversation.
